International Research Exchange

As a large comprehensive university leading the world, Chiba University makes maximum use of its diverse and interdisciplinary features to create the best environment for unique and high level comprehensive research.

Under the strong leadership of the President, the university collaborates with educational research institutes in and outside of Japan to promote the formation of a communication hub for internationalized wisdom. The university accepts approximately 500 researchers from overseas annually.

1. Acceptance of International Researchers

Chiba University actively accepts international researchers to work with the academic staff of the university. Researchers accepted at the university are professors, associate professors, assistant professors, lecturers or those with equivalent qualifications at universities and academic institutions abroad. As a rule, researchers are accepted for period ranging from one month to one year, and extensions are possible.

1) International Exchange Program by External Funding Agencies

There are Grants-in-Aid academic exchange programs offered by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and other organizations that accept international researchers.
