Information for 2011 Tohoku - Pacific Ocean Earthquake and Tsunami

Dear sister universities and Chiba University alumni,

On March 11, 2011, we were confronted with the largest earthquake in Japanese history, which caused devastating tsunamis to strike off the east coast around Tohoku.
Currently, more than 4000 people are reported dead or missing and the number is increasing every moment.

Regarding this catastrophe, so many sister universities and Chiba University alumni members have sent us warm words of encourage. I would like to show my deep appreciation for your kindness as representative of Chiba University.

Chiba University has established headquarters for this situation. We will work hard for the safety of all students and staff, while maintaining the facilities and functions as of the university. Right now we are doing our best to confirm safety for all those who are staying in the disaster areas.

Although university management is yet effected by transportation restraints, power outage and other outcomes from the earthquake, we will overcome this difficult situation in united cooperation of all staff and students.
