Pictures of Nishi-Chiba Campus (taken after the earthquake)

On behalf of Chiba University, I would like to extend the deep appreciation to all of our partners for warm thoughts and support following the earthquake and tsunami that struck the Tohoku region of Japan on March 11, 2011.

There is no substantial damage on all of our four campuses due to its distance from the epicenter, and we have been in normal operations from the day of the earthquake.

As our campuses are located approximately 260 km away from the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plants, the radiation levels in the air on/around our campuses have fallen to about the same level that was measured prior to the incident. Public transportation has resumed the normal operations, and electricity, gas, water, and other essential utilities are provided with no interruption. Everything has been back in normal in Chiba area, contrary to the devastating news coming from affected areas in Tohoku region.

Hence our educational environment has not changed, and I would like to assure you with our sincere thanks that we are fine and have been continuing to provide excellent education.

Please contact our International Affairs Division if you have any questions.
