概要
Brief Description
Students will learn about the developing remote sensing applications in Japan, Europe, USA and others countries. This course will introduce various applications of remote sensing in Earth sciences including geography, biology, physics, mathematics, and informatics. Students get to learn how pictures of the Earth's surface are recorded from aircrafts and satellites and the different ways these images are analyzed. In-class activities (ICA) are held to provide a more interactive learning experience.

Objectives and Goals

15 Core Competencies for General Education
• Provide an introduction to remote sensing technologies and applications;
• Understand the basic principles underlying the environment management between Japan and other countries;
• Be familiar with remote sensing based analytical and problem-solving techniques for sustainable planning and management of environment systems;
• The student will acquire the ability to gather, discuss, process and dispatch information about basic remote sensing in the English language.

The aim of courses categorized under the rubric "Japanese Studies" is to teach about the world, using Japan as a case-study, and vice versa. In Japanese Studies courses we do not just provide students with foundational knowledge about Japanese culture and society, but we also offer an environment that allows students to reconsider their image of Japan by reflecting on their own experiences and cultures, and to acquire new perspectives and a deeper awareness of a variety of global phenomena.
