President Yokote visited the University of California, San Diego

On December 4, 2025, President Koutaro Yokote, Prof.Daisuke Katagiri, Entrepreneurship Center, Dr.Yoko Oe, Chiba University, Synergy Institute for Futuristic Mucosal Vaccine Research and Development(cSIMVa), and other staff members visited the University of California, San Diego (hereinafter UCSD).

 

Chiba University and UCSD jointly established the Center for Mucosal Immunology and Allergy Vaccines (cMAV) in 2016, conducting cutting-edge international collaborative research, and this year marks its 10th anniversary.

 

During the visit, meetings were held with Vice President John M. Carethers and relevant faculty and staff at UCSD. President Yokote introduced initiatives at Chiba University, including the J-PEAKS program, cSIMVa, cMAV and the Entrepreneurship Center. Following this, active discussions took place, confirming plans to extend cMAV's activities and to consider research exchanges in new academic fields, as well as exchanges involving young researchers, students, and URAs.

 

On the courtesy visit to Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla, we reviewed the past exchanges between Chiba University and UCSD and discussed ways to further deepen our future collaborations.

 

Prior to the meeting and courtesy visits, specific discussions were held at the Division of Extended Studies with Associate Dean Patti Juza and others regarding the summer student exchange program centered on entrepreneurship education.

 

Further strengthening of collaboration and cooperation between Chiba University and UCSD is expected in both research and education.
