On October 20, 2025, Grégory Wegmann, Vice President for European and International Policy of Université Bourgogne Europe in France visited Chiba University.

They held discussion with Hiroaki Ozawa, Executive Vice President of Chiba University, Prof. Kanako Nishizumi, Graduate School of Global and Transdisciplinary Studies, Associate Prof. Takanori Saito, Graduate School of Horticulture, and other faculty and other staff members.

Université Bourgogne Europe, based in Dijon, operates six campuses across the region and is known as a comprehensive university encompassing a wide range of disciplines including the humanities, sciences, medicine, and engineering.

During the visit, both institutions exchanged views on the utilization of the FORTHEM Alliance—a network of nine European universities—and the Erasmus+ program, as well as on potential collaborations and student exchanges in the fields of horticulture and liberal arts and sciences. This visit provided a meaningful opportunity to strengthen mutual understanding and is expected to further promote academic exchange and cooperation between the two universities.
