概要 Brief Description |
The course starts with an introduction and critical discussion of basic concepts and conceptions about climate changes, sustainable development, climate change leadership, science, and politics. The climate change challenges with focus on leadership is defined and discussed during the first part of the course. Behaviour change on global warming and culture are also focused on through group research work or field study. |
目的・目標 Objectives and Goals
15 Core Competencies for General Education | 「ジャパニーズ・スタディーズ」は「日本」という事例を通して、「世界」を学ぶ、また「世界」を通して「日本」を学ぶという目的を持った科目である。日本についての基礎知識を学ぶだけでなく、自らの体験、自らの文化と照らし合わせて日本を見つめ直すことによって、様々な事象についての新しい視点、より深い気づきを得られることを目指している。
The aim of courses categorized under the rubric ""Japanese Studies"" is to teach about the world, using Japan as a case-study, and vice versa. In Japanese Studies courses we do not just provide students with foundational knowledge about Japanese culture and society, but we also offer an environment that allows students to reconsider their image of Japan by reflecting on their own experiences and cultures, and to acquire new perspectives and a deeper awareness of a variety of global phenomena.
Students will emerge from the course with an understanding of climate change. They will be able to:
1) Demonstrate a solid understanding of basic concepts about climate changes.
2) Evaluate the various factors that shape climate.
3) Describe behaviour change on global warming for sustainable development.
4) Explain the consequences, risks, and uncertainties of climate change. |

This course combines participatory in-class activities and group discussion with field study. Working collaboratively with the teacher, students will design the group research plan, organize the field study, carry out research, and evaluate the results in English. Students will work in research teams.

評価方法・基準 Evaluation Procedures and Criteria |
The grade will be determined by participation in class activities and field work (40%), writing assignments (30%), and the final presentation and research report (30%). |
履修要件 Prerequisite |
All classes will be conducted entirely in English. Students are expected to attend all class sessions and participate fully in classroom discussion.
Note: Each student is expected to contribute to classroom discussions (or presentation) on a regular basis. |
備考 Remarks |
The language of tuition is English. Teachers will make use of visual materials in order to help understanding.
