概要 |
With the advancement of globalization, Japanese economy is becoming increasingly interlinked with the rest of the world. This course addresses the history and status quo of the Japanese economy in its international context. |
目的・目標 |
The aim of this course is to provide the student with a balanced view on the basic functioning of the global economic system and the current/potential roles of Japan. While international economics serves as the main guiding discipline, reference is also made to relevant political economic and/or cultural dimensions in which the modern Japanese economy is deeply embedded. |

Handouts will be provided in class (No textbook required). |
評価方法・基準 |
Class attendance 30%, Midterm exam (1,000 word take-home essay) 30%, Final exam (3,000 word take-home essay) 40%. |
備考 |
Regular attendance is required. Late essay submission will be accepted but lead to significant marking down. Prolonged, unexpected absence (more than three consecutive) will result in automatic withdrawal. Being late three times will be counted as one absence. |
