| 概要 |
The student will be able to communicate in English on a wide variety of topics,
and perform different functions using English. |
| 目的・目標 |
The purpose of the course is to help the student develop and enhance English
skills on an intermediate level. By the end of the course, the student should
be able to perform many different functions. For example, by the end of the course, the student should be able to,
1). introduce themselves and others,
2). express their emotions,
3). give and ask advice,
4). plan an event, and
5). discuss different current issues, such as the environment

| 授業計画・授業内容 |
Every class will include, a listening activity, a new conversation which will
be introduced and practiced in class, and a class activity(which will be related to the listening activity and conversation introduced). These activities will include, creating and presenting a dialogue, planning an activity such as a trip, and leading and participating in a discussion on a wide variety of issues. For the final exam, the students will be required to
plan and give a group presentaion on any topic that was covered during the term.

| 評価方法・基準 |
Students will evaluated on how well they do the listening exercises(worth 10 points each), complete the different class activities(worth 10 points each), and how well they do on the final presentation(worth 30 points). In addition, there will be a weekly quiz on each chapter in the textbook (worth 5 points each). "The CBS News English for Chiba University Students" will be a self-study textbook, and will not be used in class. The student's final grade will be determined by calculating all of
the points earned, and calculating a percentage. Throughout the term. the teacher will tell each student how many points they have cumulated, so they
know their standing in terms of their grade.
