Plant factory in cities

Design of plant factories for community vegetable gardens in a 3/11 disaster area, Natori.

The aim of this project is to develop community through sharing the experience of growing, observing and eating of vegetables. This project was carried out at a meeting room in temporary housing in a 3/11 disaster area, Natori in Miyagi prefecture. First meeting was carried out on August 2011 and small plant factory units were set up on April 2012. Plant factory furniture was made by people on January 2014. People are not only involve in making products but also studying how to grow vegetables. A lot of activities are going on using these various self-build plant factories.
