Plant factory in schools

Collaborations of plant factory and school (Fukushima)

Kodomo mirai batake and Micro plant factory Temporary buildings are used in Tomioka elementary and middle school (Miharu-machi, Fukushima) after disaster of the Great East Japan Earthquake. Plant factories are appropriate to grow plants inside of the building. Two kinds of plant factories, Kodomo mirai batake and micro plant factory, were set up in 2010 and they are used for classes in science, general course and dietary education. Small sunflowers, radish, okura, bush beans, mini tomatoes, strawberries were grown. These species were chosen to enjoy observing and eating and they are used as cooking practices.
