I'm originally from Devon in the UK, but have lived in Chiba for more than 25 years. After doing a first degree in Japanese Studies at the University of Sheffield, I came to Japan on the JET programme and lived in Niigata for two years. On my way back to the UK, I travelled for four months around South East Asia before taking the train from Beijing to London. After a few years working in London, I came back to Japan, taught at the British Council in Tokyo, took my MScTESOL from Aston University and joined Chiba University in 2005. I have been with English House ever since we opened in 2013, and am a faculty member of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Likes: travel, shinkyokushin karate, making things, reading

If you need to take an English exam, prepare for a conference, have your writing checked or would like advice on language learning, please feel free to come and see me at English House.

Student Assistants (SAs)

Student Assistants mainly help your English speaking practice. One of them will be your conversation partner when you join the Conversation Sessions activity. They are also students at Chiba University like you. About 25 SAs from all over the world, including Japan, work for English House every semester. They are in charge of cultural and social events, too.
