Rural landscape evaluation Japan-Korean comparative research project

Even the same scenery is evaluated differently according to the difference of cultural background. Main purpose of the project is to compare how the Japanese and Korean students evaluate typical Korean rural landscape. Exchange students of Chiba University in Seoul National University and Korean students from the same University visited two places of rural settlements near Seoul. A small GPS and camera were carried and photos were taken randomly. Students were asked to select a favorite landscape photo, analyzed the choices and various differences of landscape elements. Evaluations were compiled and presented in the academic meeting of both countries.
