Landscape characterization of Matsudo city

Landscape Character Assessment is a research and analysis technique that many countries that have ratified the European Landscape Convention are carrying out in order to understand the characteristics and uniqueness of the region. In this project, mixed group of students from Western Asia and Chiba University, analyzed familiar Chiba Prefecture Tokatsu area utilizing the national land base information and satellite photos and surveyed the place with a map and questionnaire for locals and analyzes the local characteristics based on the results of the investigation. It was a good opportunity to learn the methods of analyzing the uniqueness of the region by the data of terrain, slope, vegetation, land use, the designated area by law, recreation location, and the analysis method based on GIS.
