JASSO Honors scholarship (Gakushu-Shoreihi)(The Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship for Privately-Financed International Students)

There are two types of JASSO Honors scholarships.
The reservation program for the Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship for Privately-Financed International Students is available for privately financed international students who achieve a high score on the EJU and enroll as regular students in a university undergraduate school. The Monbukagakusho Honors Scholarship for Privately-Financed International Students is also available for privately financed international students who are not applying for its reservation program. The number of applicants will depend on the number of international students at the school each year. Find more about it HERE.

Those who wish to apply for the JASSO Honors Scholarship for Privately Financed International Students must register. Please refer to How to Register and Apply for more information about registration.
Scholarship Information will come out in April every year.
New scholarship information (requirements, etc.) will be posted on bulletin boards as well as the International Student Division’s website. Please check regularly so you don’t miss the most current information.
Note that to receive a monthly stipend, you will need a Japan Post Bank account. Please make sure to open your account before applying for this scholarship.
The candidate must have a valid student visa. Please make sure to obtain/renew your residence card without delay.
